Classic Elegance

Classic style interior design conjures images of tradition, elegance, comfort and “just so” placement of antique or reproduction antique-style furniture and accessories. Wall colors lean towards warm complimenting mid-tones with eased transitions of color throughout the home. Traditional design is somewhat conservative and opposes anything modern, eclectic, or overstated. Instead, this style embraces the tailored and understated details, tight upholstered furnishings, cushions and pillows.
In terms of cabinetry, timeless details pulled from the influence of the 18th and 19th century such carving and flutes tend to be more delicate than other styles; legs more slender. Door styles favor the solid raised panel construction of the era and may feature mitered corners, delicately routered profiles. Finishes include warm, rich wood tones ranging from toffee flavored mid-browns to the darkest of deep-drowns. Hardware choices vary in terms of finish but typically shy away from the ostentatious which would inhibit the subtle elegance of this classic look. Generic looking appliances hidden behind cabinetry panels is a nice way to maintain symmetry throughout the kitchen.
